From the floor to the chair: Why I’ll never go camping without seating again
From the floor to the chair: Why I’ll never go camping without seating again
There are things you learn by doing them wrong. Sitting on a damp meadow for three nights because I thought ‘a stone will do too’ – that was such a lesson. My back hurt, my clothes were wet, my mood was in the basement.
On the third day I bought a simple folding camping chair. And suddenly everything changed. The coffee tasted better. The view of the landscape became wider. I stayed by the fire longer, talked more, and simply enjoyed the evening more.
Since that day, my camping chair has been the first thing to be unpacked after the tent. Light, stable and always with you – it makes every time outside more comfortable. Whether by the campfire, at breakfast or in the evening under the stars: a good seat changes everything.
What makes a good camping chair
Not every chair is the same. Pay attention to these points: Weight – under 2 kg is ideal for hiking. Stability – a robust frame made of steel or aluminum can withstand uneven ground. Seat height – too low is uncomfortable, too high and it quickly tips over. And: Assembly time – if you’re tired after a long day, you don’t want to sit through building instructions.
A good camping chair is not a luxury. It’s the difference between an okay and a great outdoor experience.
